What are Microgreens...?Microgreens are the young seedlings of familiar vegetables, like radishes, peas, and even sunflowers! They grow very quickly, maturing from first seed in only two weeks. Despite their size and shape, they are very nutritious and taste just like the full vegetable. The taste will surprise you! Our participants grow all our microgreens as part of our horticulture training program. Together we sell these microgreens at the Port Credit Farmer's Market (see below). |
We sell our microgreens (as well as other vegetables, herbs, and spices - see our catalogue for more info), at the Port Credit Farmer's Market every Saturday. We even give out free samples!
Market Location: 20 Lakeshore Rd E, Mississauga, ON L5H 1E9 (Port Credit Library parking lot) Hours: 8:00 AM - 2:00 PM Dates: Every Saturday, June 1st - Oct 5th 2024 |
Recent research shows that “super” might be an accurate description. In a study published in ACS Food Science & Technology, scientists from the University of Maryland and the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) at the U.S. Department of Agriculture in nearby Beltsville, Md., found that kale and broccoli microgreens grown both in windowsills and in commercial growing conditions are rich in phytonutrients.
